We have been receiving feedback on our proposals since our website was launched in April. During this time, comments have been used to construct a masterplan for the eco-town. Now that this has been published, your views are even more important in making this town the best it can be.
The masterplan is not a planning application. It has been produced to enable the Government department, CLG, to undertake final assessment work ahead of a decision on a shortlist of sites in Spring 2009. If our proposal is on this final shortlist we would look to take feedback from consultation forward in the normal planning process. Shortlisting, therefore, only marks the end of the pre-planning consultation phase and does not mean the eco-town will be built.
CLG are also undertaking consultation work in parallel to our own for each eco-town site across the UK. You are encouraged to submit your views on the national eco-town policy and process directly to CLG.
We would welcome views on the following areas:
If you live locally to the proposed eco-town, your views on the masterplan are vital to ensure that it responds to the needs of the area. If you live in the wider area, it is as important to register your views as the eco-town will deliver a new sustainable community of which you may become part. It is important that we receive views from across the whole region - this is an Eco-town for Leicestershire and one which we hope brings forward vital new housing, public transport investment and a new community focused on each other's needs and living sustainably for the future.
We will be collecting names, postcodes and feedback as part of the consultation process. The names and postcode data will only be used to enable us to identify the area in which you live, and will not use this information for any other purpose. Your feedback will be used as part of the consultation process on the Leicestershire eco-town and comments may be disclosed to CLG and to drive the developing plans, but your identity will remain confidential and will not be published.
If you would like your own copy of the vision documents they are available to download on the submission pages.
Alternatively, public sites who have received a hard copy for reference are listed in the accessibility section
